I decided to have an addition built onto my house. I have always wanted to have a family room, and I finally decided it was time to get what I wanted. My brother recommended a builder in Bristol, one that he had used in the past for several different projects. I know how picky my brother is, so I knew that this builder had to be a good one. He came over so he could give my wife and I an estimate on how much it would cost. When I told him that I had always wanted to have a large porch also, he showed me how I could get both things I wanted.

The family room would work best on the back of the house since the kitchen is back there too. It would be accessible from the hallway or kitchen, and the bathroom is right next to it too. The builder showed me a sketch he had quickly made that showed not only the family room but a doorway leading out to a wrap around porch too. I knew that it was going to cost more money but it was hard to not want it after seeing it drawn on paper like that.

I was using my line of credit for this anyway, so I figured I would just go ahead and do both projects at the same time. The builder was very efficient. He not only was able to give me the porch of my dreams, but he also built custom bookshelves into the family room. These shelves hold everything from books to DVD movies and games. He also built custom shelves for all the gaming gear that the kids have already or will acquire in the future. He truly made this into the family room of my dreams, and everyone in the family loves our new addition!
